ArcelorMittal Liberia began operations in 2006 when the government of Liberia and ArcelorMittal signed a 25-year Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) to mine iron ore. We are dedicated to maintaining the environmental integrity of the areas in which we work. Mining, rail, and shipping are all part of ArcelorMittal Liberia’s operations. Mount Gangra in Yekepa mines iron ore, which is then transported by rail to the Port of Buchanan for shipping.
