SNV in Benin
SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation that focuses on agriculture, energy, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). With more than 50 years of operations, SNV developed a strong presence in Asia, Latin America, and many African countries. Founded in 1970, SNV in Benin is a country office of SNV which has its headquarter in the Netherlands. SNV’s action in Benin mainly concerns three sectors of intervention which are :
- Agriculture: promote agribusiness, youth entrepreneurship, market access, inclusive business, land and natural resource management.
- Renewable energies: reduce biomass exploitation, protect the environment, and develop a market for solar lamps, solar PV, and biodigesters.
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH): promote integrated water resources management improve access to drinking water for all, sanitation systems and hygiene practices.SNV also promotes Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) : flood, erosion and drought control.
These sectors also consider cross-cutting themes such as governance, gender, women and youth employment, climate change, and new technologies.
